Costa Rica and Cleaning Out My TBR

Hi, readers! I’ve definitely missed blogging while I was gone, but now, after two and a half weeks in Costa Rica with my husband and his family, I’m back! In my own library. On my own computer. With my own internet. It’s a great feeling.

Here are a few highlights of my trip:

Spider monkeys, Capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys. Sloths. Toucans. Macaws. Two volcanos. The beach. Mango beer. A (for me) decent tan. Caimans (small alligators). Touching one of those caimans. Reading 13 books in 18 days.

Reading that much, that fast, was amazing. I didn’t write at all (okay, I did some plotting). My brain is brimming with all the wonderful stories I just put in it, and it’s an incredible feeling. It jump-started my inspiration for my WIP, too– the ideas won’t quit coming. I’m doing this reading binge again, let me tell you.

In case you’re curious which books I read, here’s the list:

This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

Obsidian, Onyx, and Opal by Jennifer Armentrout

Still Into You by Roni Loren

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Keeping Safe the Stars by Sheila O’Connor

Leila Sales, Jay Asher, and Holly Black have earned my undying loyalty. I’ll read everything they ever write.

Here are some quick shots from the trip. Next posts will be my thoughts on that book list, so stay tuned!

  1. 13 books in 18 days? Wildlife and waterfalls? That sounds like the perfect vacation. And those pictures are incredible! The last one of the waterfall is totally postcard worthy.
